Places in Bucharest

*this post is not associated or endorsed by the mentioned places*

What better way to start a travel journey than with my beloved Bucharest? Eventually, is one of the places one can take off to many destinations. I will write about some places in Bucharest that are, in my opinion, more than worth seeing – a quality way of spending free time. No matter if you are an inhabitant or a tourist, you have to see them. I have mentioned them in a totally random order because I could never make a top. My list for 2017, yours for 2018.

  1. Mara Mura

This is one of those places which is more suitable for ladies. The pink, the roses lemonade, the sweet and colorful cakes and the fairytale décor definitely give the place a feminine vibe. You can find all the details on how to get there and their program on the website: maramura.ro. You can also follow them on Instagram: instagram.com/maramuraromania/, I am sure all the cakes will leave your mouth-watering.

You can visit Mara Mura any season, the terrace which is open in spring and summer it’s very pretty organized and in autumn and winter you can always admire the interior of the location.

  1. Maison des Crepes

Another fairytale place. Here I had the roses lemonade again and it was delicious. Don’t get me started on the pancakes. We chose Emily and Amelie. You will realize what I am talking about as soon as you take a look at the menu. It’s that kind of place where I would go every day to try on each range of cakes.

  1. Deschis Gastrobar

They say it is very nice on the terrace. I cannot confirm that because when we got there the terrace was closed and we didn’t have the chance to see the view from the top. But that was not a problem, we settled for the covered part which was really special too. The place wasn’t very crowded when we got there, but it filled very quickly. It might be very popular too. If you are planning on going there soon, you can take a look at their contact page for more info.

  1. Pâine și Vin (Bread and Wine)

2 girls holding 2 glasses of wine and a tasty focaccia is definitely the perfect recipe for a Monday evening. Ypu know that saying “What rhymes with Monday? Wine!”? Well, it went really wel for us that night. I don’t know what I liked best – be it the hospitality, the incredible wine, the décor which suits the place perfectly (even the bathroom seemed genius to me)? Or maybe it was the logo and the slogan? (I cannot unsee them, as an advertiser I get pretty excited about these things). It definitely was about the combination. I hightly recommend this place.

  1. Linea – Closer to the Moon

Here I really felt closet to the moon. The décor enchanted me from at first sight. Something to keep in mind if you decide to go there – waitresses do not come to take your order, you have to go to the bar and as for a drink yourself. You can find the menu on the counter. We waited for a little before we realized how things go. I don’t know how they picked this location, but the view is amazing. Bucharest is more beautiful seen from Linea’s terrace. The great music, the friendly atmosphere and the tasty orange juice made this one day of my summer unforgettable. The place is arranged differently for winter. I haven’t made it there yet, but it’s on the list. I will update the piece with photos once I get there.

  1. Dianei 4

I wished for a long time to visit Dianei 4 before I actually got there. I was always impressed pubs hosted by old houses. The place was exactly how I imagined it – a piece of nature and serenity. I was so glad that we could find a place on the single balcony which had a view of the garden so I could admire it better. Even if it is situated in the middle of Bucharest, which tends to be the most stirred area, Dianei 4 is completely isolated from the noise and crowdedness of the city. I don’t remember exactly how the tea I served was called, but I remember the delicious forest fruits cake. I understand the food is also very great so do not hesitate to order something else except dessert.

  1. Stadio

By visiting Stadio I got to pass through the University which ate 5 of my student years. I realized I don’t miss it yet.  At first, calling by the name, I thought the décor will look something similar to a stadium, but I was far from the truth, as the restaurant describes himself as an Italian restaurant which borrows some décor techniques from the movies industry. It was a really special place. For 2 hours I felt like I had been beamed to another era. I didn’t taste their famous “papanashi”, although I should have. Maybe next time, because it will definitely be a next time.

  1. First time I ate Sushi (Terra)

And I have to admit everything was very tasty – the soup, the sushi, and the traditional desserts. As I only eat fish, for me it really was a feast. I cannot recommend you something particularly because I am only at the beginning. What I can advise you is to try as many sushi types as possible to find out what you like most, if you find yourselves in my situation. In regards to sushi, I liked best Classic Philadelphia and Maki Salmon. The dessert – the coconut ice cream was genius. The sea décor and the aquariums all around us made me feel like I was inside an ocean with all types of sea fish.

  1. Il Cantucio Ristorante

Best pasta I have ever eaten! And I think I have said everything. I have tried 4 types and I didn’t get enough. The rustic décor didn’t impress me much, it’s the type of place I would go almost strictly for eating. The staff is very friendly and the order – payment system is very fast and efficient.

  1. NOR – SKY CASUAL RESTAURANT

Although NOR was opened very recently, I knew I had to go there the moment I say the first pictures. I really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the relaxed organizing of the space, the nice staff members and the order system which was very well set up. I advise you to try their “papanashi”, not the cloud above the chocolate nest. The second is more worth being pictured. As for the view, from where we were standing it didn’t seem like something special. Although, the idea of watching over Bucharest from the 36th floor is definitely worth the time and money.

I should also mention as special places: Coffeol (although they are crazy famous that they do not need introduction), The Urbanist (a place in the Old Town which combines the idea of a pub with a clothing store) and Nomad Skybar (even though they have been on the market for some time, the special architecture doesn’t spot to amaze me each time I go there).
